Thank God i have you guys to motivate me to be a little more regular now..

While attending mass service, i honestly hate seeing children using the bulletin as colouring paper or as origami paper so i like staring at them in disapproval, hoping to either hush them up or horrify them with my distorted looking face.. alas.. doesnt seem to work.. i think i have a face tt says i am too much a goody goody..

Anyway, it was mothers day week too so i guess mothers get a day off from doing their routine work cause i saw a husband, during mass, BRAIDING his daughters hair.. i mean how many guys you know actually knows how to braid a girls hair? tying is tedious for you already.. yea.. now you know.. lena has a lot of crap and loves digressing..

Ok the homily.. Fr Patrick was talking about world communications day.. about the media advertising or reporting news that they think would be of interest to us.. like how gory stuff always takes front page than more important world economy stuff.. a classic eg is when you see: bloodied bodies all around on front page than a Free Trade Agreement has been signed.. how we are attracted first to celebrity gossip like Brad and Jennifer splitting up than the Sound of music coming to singapore.. Juicy gossips and tabloids rule the day and thats what interests us.. Think so? Have we become so inhumane that sometimes we even gloat on people's misery?

I remember reading a news about this young man who got knocked down by a bus getting into the prime news section and instead of sympathy, one fellow blogger went: serve you right.. who ask you to run in front of the bus.

The mass media has always been a good source of propaganda.. the news serve to us what we are interested/want to hear/read.. parents complaining that teens only read the sports or life section.. how should we choose whats good for us to read as well?

Fr Patrick also ended off by asking us to ponder about our words.. words that we speak and words that we hear.. words that could start a life time of friendship and words that could break friendships apart.. How many times we have said hurtful things to people, or hear hurtful comments from friends? Is there something we can do about it? How can we curb ourselves?

Someone once told me this: Think before you say anything. If you know if is gonna be hurtful, don't say it. Its better to keep silent than to hurt the feelings of others.. Every hurtful thing you say, you are driving a nail through Jesus's heart..

If you hear a hurtful thing being said to you, be tolerant.. Say something back in kind to the person and don't pick a quarrel that would hurt your friendship.. Remember even though the Jews crucified Jesus, Jesus prayed to God to forgive them as they know not what they are doing...

A little step goes a long way.. For those who studys lit and know who william blake is.. in his words: It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend. However, i say.. it is easy to forgive both your enemies and friends.. pray for them..

Happy mothers day! Especially to Sulynn! Mila! and Jenann (little mummy to a 3yr old dog..)
The Dragon

In the darkness of the night
With no guiding light in sight
Lost within the swirling mist
Before the dragon and his might

Quietly he said to me
"Flee now if you wish to be
Alive when the sun sets
Upon this day's history."

Silently I thus replied,
"In comes the long awaited tide
So gather your treasures and fly"
And the dragon slowly sighed.

A fierce battle was fought
Within the ghastly fort
That was the dragon's home
And so I set the beast to rot.

The dragon slain, I rested
Where a fearsome beast I'd bested
Still wet with the dragon's blood
And my will was tested.

"What better the world shall be
With a wondrous king like me
With my treasures all around –
And the dragon's head for all to see."

And quietly the day ended
As the dragon had intended.
Darkness was all around me,
And helplessly I repented.

For scaly was the arm I saw,
And the long tail raw,
All in my reflection.
So up I reached with one claw

And ripped apart the air
For I saw what was really there
In my heart of hearts.
Yet no longer did I care

For the dragon was my all.

by Jonathan Tan
<div
